armandhammer8's Full Review: SanDisk Sansa e140 (1 GB) MP3 Player
I've spent a year looking for the "perfect" Mp3 player. Through my search I realized that the Mp3 has far from "matured" and investing significant amounts of money into anyone at this time is unwise. Enter the SanDisk e140, the product to settle on until the "perfect" Mp3 player comes on the market.
Description
Unlike many other Mp3 players on the market the sandisk e140 carries no gimmick or over inflated price, for what is essenitally a flash drive attached to a audio player. The unit is sturdy and stylish, with all controls conviently located. And unlike some other Mp3 players This one has it's power button reccessed along the side so it virtually imposible to turn on by accident. the touch pad is not too sensitive and is conviniently layed out. The screen is of adequate size if not a little large. All controls work flawlessly, with no lag. the only fault may be the USB cover, which will be impossible not too loose, but it's so insignificant it's not an issue. The player the size (and possibly wieght) of four credit cards stacked vertically and firs perfectly into a front pocket.
Ease of Use
Being "Play for sure" compatible it works absolutely flawlessly with windows media player. I never even used the setup CD, just plug it in and start uploading songs. You can even add songs from my computer, which means it will carry other files to (like word documents). With the frimware update from the SanDisck website the songs will automatically get filed into albums, normally reflective of how they are filed on your computer.
Sound
The sound was initally a bit distorted, but after turning OFF SRS WOW effect it was excellent. There is an equalizer , which is easily adjusted to provide a full and smooth sound. It is surprizing how load the volume can go.
Longterm
The battery life is more than adequate, averaging about 14 hours. So far I have only filled half the capacity with about 75 songs at 320 kbps so at 160 kbps (the normal quality) I estimate you could squeeze around 300 songs onto this tiny player. The screen as proven to be fairly scratch resistant and nothing has been damaged. I have had no accendental "turn ons" the the hold function has proven very effective. Even with hold off the player will not change songs or volume in your pocket. I hope to use the expansion slot in the future to fit eve more songs.
Over all I am very satified with the Sandisk e140. It has proven to be the most substancial player in this pricerange.
I hope this review was helpful in guiding your decision.
