We have several white boards at work. One for meetings that is located in the conference room, and three white boards in an office to keep track of orders and shipment dates. At some point, these white boards need cleaning. That is when Sanford Expo Towelettes White Board Cleaner comes in handy.


Description

Sanford Expo Towelettes are in a round plastic container that measures 7 1/2" tall x 4" in diameter. The body of the container is white with a wrap-around label that explains the product, and the hinged lid is bright yellow. The lid has a tab, that when flicked, opens the lid so the towelettes can be pulled from the container. An opening in the shape of an X allows the moist towelettes through the opening.

The white towelettes are pre-moistened. Each towelette measures 5 1/2" x 9 7/8". They are constructed from a durable cloth-like fabric. There are 50 reusable sheets in each container.

The manufacturer states that these towelettes will "clean and restore white boards by removing: ghosting, grease, stubborn marks, stains, shadowing".


Our Experiences

Sanford Expo Towelettes work well for us. They easily pull free from the container through the X-like opening. If we are not careful how we tug the cloths from the container, the cloth separates in such a way that instead of bringing the next cloth out of the opening a bit (so that it can be grabbed the next time), the cloth remains in the bottom portion of the container. The lid of the container twists open so that the next cloth can be retrieved and threaded through the X opening.

These cloths have removed every color of Expo dry erase marker that we have used (and we have a lot of colors). They have even removed dry erase marker from the boards that was written six months ago. The cloths clean the white boards well, too, so that there are no ghost marks. Our white boards are not stained, so I cannot say how well the cloths remove stains or grease.

The towelettes do have a distinctive odor that gives me a headache. I try to use the cloths quickly and then throw them away. I have never reused any of the towelettes even though the manufacturer says they can be reused, though I have used each cloth on more than one white board during a cleaning session. The towelettes when removed from the container are pre-moistened, but they are not dripping wet. The cloths are just damp enough without being too wet.


Manufacturer Cautions

The plastic container has a Warning section on it that says: "Warning: Combustible liquid and vapor eye irritant. Avoid contact with eyes. Immediately flush with plenty of cool running water. Remove contact lenses if applicable and continue flushing for at least 15 minutes. Keep out of reach of children. Wash hands after use."

Taken from the Manufacturer's Safety Data Sheet (MSDS). Note that the MSDS states that this product should be used in a well ventilated area.

Water, isopropyl alcohol (67-63-0), n-propoxypropanol (1569-01-3).


Purchasing

The company purchased these towelettes from Staples for $7.75 each container. Staples offers a cost-saving plan that if 3 containers of Sanford Expo Towelettes are purchased, it will cost $7.39 a container.


Summary

These Sanford Expo Towelettes work very well. I don't care for the smell, and the odor gives me a headache. So I view the cloths with mixed feelings.
