Rating Watch:
.....I just want to say beforehand that you musn't rate this review on length. I mean, seriously. This is only a 99 cent eraser I'm writing about. So please do not rate this review only on length as some do. Thanks. If you could possibly find anything about this product to write about that is not mentioned in this review, please feel free to email me at shippo522@hotmail.com. And oh yeah, please have sympathy for me for taking an hour out of my day to write about an eraser. lol.
Clean Hands:
.....A while ago, I got an 18x24 dry-erase board to dohomework on and stuff. They really are handy indeed. But like all of us, I had the bad habit of using my hands to wipe the board off or just a letter. We all do. And whats bad about this is that we do this and then our hands get all black from the marker powder. I have a tendency to rub my eyes often and they would get irritated by the substances on my fingers. But since I got this, my eyes are fine, even though I tend to, once in a while, use my hands.
Construction:
.....The eraser itself consists of two main parts. There is the primary body of styrofoam and the felt erasing strip.
The whole thing is so light that you can be holding it and not realize it. Probably about the weight of a credit card.
.....The primary part of the eraser is composed of dense styrofoam (i'm not sure of the spelling). It is pretty solid and for the most part, waterproof. Though, you can tell that it is styrofoam when you hold it because of the feeling and how light it is. It provides a comfortable grip when using. And it the same size as 'real' erasers, being that this is no professional grade eraser.
.....Stuck along the top is a label. It just says 'EXPO ERASER' in French, English, and Spanish. It also shows the proper cleaning instructions in the three languages on the proper way to clean the felt part. And just to write more, it has a glossy texture. And considering that the top of the foam block is engraved a millimeter or two, the label won't catch on anything and peel off, not that it would be a loss or anything.
.....And alas, the bottom. This of course is the felt pad, the eraser itself. This is the important part of the eraser that makes other erasers suck. The pad on this eraser is nice and bushy. It is a whitish gray color when new, which won't stay that way long. It is hald to the foam body with a waterproof adhesive compound thingy. It is durable and can withstand being washed many a time. The bushy fibers are great because they hold the marker powder well and do not leave anything behind. Refer to below on how to wash.
Time To Eraze:
.....This is where the strong erasers are separated from the weak. Some erasers will work for a little and then are so clogged up that they leave everything behind and more. This eraser isn't that. This Expo dry-eraser works exceptionally well for a buck price tag.
.....It erases dry-dry-erase markers with one swipe and erases wet-dry-erase markers with one, sometimes two swipes. Wet-dry-erase markers are those big azz markers that teachers use in school. They have a wet-like appearance and are damp when wiped up. Dry-dry-erase markers are those fine or medium tip markers that you'd use with small boards. But either way, this eraser works fairly well with both kinds of markers.
.....As for how it 'feels', it feels fine. Its comfortable to hold and use. If feels solid and everything.
Scrubba Dub Dub, Time To Take A Bath:
.....You can even wash the felt pad clean if you wish, whatever floats your boat. Its simple and makes the pad look fresh. The cleaning instructions are printed on the label in english, spanish, and french(incase you don't speak english, but if your reading this, you should). It says: Eraser should be cleaned periodically. Hold eraser under faucet and clean with soap. Really all youhave to do is put it under water for about a second just to get it wet. Put a drop or two of DAWN or JOY on the pad and swish it around with your fingers for a coupla-seconds. Then just rinse it off and shake the excess water off. A paper towel or any towel will get the rest of the water out of the felt. The foam part resists water, so it won't get wet, or stay wet. To dry the felt, all ya have to do is lay it on a towel and press down gently a couple times in different places. And thus, you have restored that beautiful cleanness to your eraser, not that anyonw would take the time to do it.
And I Thus Conclude:
.....I am proud to have written so much about a damn eraser. This eraser is the answer for dirty hands if you are to cheap to bye a 'real' one. But it should meet up to your expectations regardless. Have a wonderful day and don't forget to IM me. My Instant messenger screenname is shippo52287. It is the same for AOL and MSN Messenger.
