The Sanford Elements series of products are well made, relatively inexpensive and are a great find for back to school shopping. The eraser pack sells for about $1.50 at Target and Wal-Mart but they are packs that you are probably only going to come across during the back to school events. I am sure that larger office supply stores carry some of the Elements packs at other times of the year but I have never seen them in my local stores.

You are getting a total of seven erasers in the pack; a standard pink pearl, ink eraser, pencil / gum eraser and four eraser caps. The first three are standard colors [pink, pale blue and brown] but the caps are in assorted neon colors. You can hunt through the bin to find caps that you like but I really don't see me using them for anything. They are a little on the cheap side and tend to break or snap after a couple of uses or when the tip gets uneven wear. I didn't have any problems with the neon caps leaving a color behind on paper but that is something that can happen with the really super cheap ones so you need to be aware of that.

For the price these are a nice find if you have a kid that needs them; most automatic and mechanical pencils have an eraser with them but if they get worn out or they need to work within a large area it is better to attack it with the Pink Pearl. The ink eraser is a little nicer than I expected because it doesn't rip loose leaf to shreds. Oh, make no mistake about it, it will leave a hole or grate the paper if you aren't careful with it but if you use it slowly you will get a good result from it. The brown gum eraser is a nice pick for pencils but you can use it for colored pencils to get a better result. One of the downsides of this eraser is that it can break or crack when you are using it. Sometimes it is a small chunk, sometimes the whole thing just snaps.

If you have a kid that is hard on erasers then chances are this pack isn't going to be the best way to go and you are going to want to get the specific erasers you need in a bulk pack. I do like the ink eraser and the Pink Pearl but the eraser caps are a little on the cheap side. Kids might like the colors but if they are using them in school they might end up getting a little frustrated when they use them and the ends snap or the complete cap cracks.

If you are getting these for a home office or personal supplies for your desk at work you are going to like the assortment but there is another Essentials pack with just the three main erasers [but the erasers are a little larger in size]. That might be a better pick so you don't have to look at the neon eraser caps or end up tossing them in the trash. These are sold carded but I came across them in a large bin that was near other back to school sale items. For the price it is a nice pack for teens and tweens and you can stock up on them if you think they are going to end up blowing through the ink or pencil erasers during the school year.
