kparsons13's Full Review: Sanford Sharpie Chisel Tip Permanent Markers 4-Col...
I was not sure which story I should tell you about my experiences with Sharpies so I decided to just spill the beans on both matters:
1) My First Encounter with the Sharpie: While I was sleeping as a little kid, my brothers thought it would be absolutely hysterical to draw on my face with markers and make me look like a cat. My mom didnt realize that my brothers had got into her Sharpie collection which she used to mark our underwear and socks for camp every summer. So when I woke up I was horrified! Plus we couldnt get it off all the way. I must have cried for hours but eventually my skin was back to normal and I was smiling again.
2) My Second Encounter with the Sharpie: At my last job before I quit, there was a technician that used to work there named Henry. Henry was about 6ָ and 230 lbs of muscle. Well we were joking around one day about this and that when he and a group of technicians had me pinned. Henry took my Liquid Black Sharpie and put a HUGE smiley face on my forehead. Lets just say I walked around with a hat on for the next three days.
So I guess you could say that I have had traumatic events with the Sharpie and the damage it can cause if it is put in the wrong hands. However, I stand by Sanford Ink Corporation for the Sharpie. Why? Because I love their products from Sharpies to Uniball Pens to Expo Dry Erase Markers. Sanford Ink Corporation also stands behind their products as well but I will get to that in a little bit
In 1857, two men named Frederick Redington and William Sanford Jr., created in Massachusetts the Sanford Manufacturing Company. In 1866 the two of them decided to move base to Chicago, Illinois but were then hit by the "Great Chicago Fire." This fire destroyed the Sanford Manufacturing Company and the location was burned to bits. Redington and Sanford Jr. stuck to their guns though and rebuilt except in 1947 they were asked to move for a new expressway needed to be built. Since then the Sanford Ink Corporation, as it is known nowadays, has remained in Bellwood, Illinois and hasnt had to move since 1947. Redington and Sanford Jr. probably had no idea that today their sales were almost a billion dollars last year.
I firmly and strongly believe that no product should be tested on animals and it is NOT when it comes to Sanford Ink Corporation. Sanford Ink Corporation also has donated millions of dollars to a place called City of Hope Cancer Center and the two are considered together as Partners in Hope". The City of Hope Cancer Center researches, diagnoses, and studies cancer where they hope to one day cure cancer and/or treat cancer more effectively. Sanford Ink Corporation may be the leading business in International sales for art supplies and writing tools, but they are also an honorable company that I am willing to purchase my products from.
The Sanford Chisel Point Four-Pack Permanent Marker Set
When I was moving some boxes around the house, I needed to get some more Sharpies as mine had finally run out of their ink. I asked my fiancé to go up to Office Max up the street and buy some Sharpies for me. Since he knows I am an Office Supply Fanatic (as he calls me) he checked all areas to make sure I wasnt hiding any markers just to get new ones and then headed out the door to Office Max. When he came home he had bought the Sharpie Chisel Point Four Pack Permanent Marker Set and said as he tossed them to me, here is another toy for you to play with. He loves to mock my fixation with office supplies.
So the colors were: Black, Red, Blue, and Green. The cost was about $4.00 for the set. I was interested to see what Chisel Point meant so I grabbed my new toys and headed for the boxes. The Sharpie Chisel Point Marker itself is a little over five inches long, almost an inch in width and flattened, rather than rounded. It is a marker that you can grab and take a hold of knowing it wont easily slip from your grip. You following me here? I hope so. Okay now the tip is angled so that you may write with a more fine type or a thick ½ a centimeter wide. I wouldnt say that you could do calligraphy with the pen by any means but it does enable your writing to look fancier than usual due to the tip. You seem to have more control over your writing than with say the Liquid Sharpie and it doesnt roll in your hand.
As for each color in this particular set:
1) The Green is a Darker Green when on paper almost like a Forest Green I guess.
2) The Blue reminds me of Royal Blue.
3) The Red is a bright and eye-catching Red
4) and the Black is well what it is, just that, Black.
There are other colors as well in the Sharpie Chisel Point Line and they are:
Purple
Bright Orange
Lime (almost a neon color)
Light Blue (what reminds me of Turquoise)
I loved the way the Sharpie Chisel Point Markers performed and felt in my hand when I wrote with them. There was one annoying problem and that was every time I took the cap off, the inside of the caps plastic would stick to it and I would have to take that off and shove back into the cap again. It bothered me so I got onto their website (www.sanfordcorp.com) and I looked to see what I could do about this. When you are homebound with mental disorders you can find all sorts of crafty things to take up your time!
This is what I found:
Sanford Ink Corporation guarantees complete satisfaction of their consumers on all of their products from Sharpies to Uniball pens. So they gave instructions to mail back the product and they would replace it efficiently and quickly I was hoping since I had kind of grown attached to these markers. Forgive me, I am after all an Office Supply Addict. So I put them in the mail and sent them to:
Sanford
Attn: Consumer Affairs
2711 Washington Blvd.
Bellwood, IL 60104
If you are a Canadian Resident you can send your product to:
Sanford Canda
Attn: Consumer Affairs
2670 Plymouth Drive
Oakville, Ontario L6H5R6
CANADA
If you have other questions on pens or anything else besides the Sharpie Line you can call (800) BEST-PEN or log on to their website www.sanfordcorp.com. At the website for people with allergies they also have their MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) Sheets available in English, French, and German.
I received my new set of Sharpie Chisel Point Markers I think in about 2-3 weeks, not that long to wait. The caps were normal and I was a satisfied customer of Sanford Ink Corporation.

The Removal of Permanent Markers
Now you remember the stories that I mentioned at the beginning of this piece well you can go buy Goof off at the grocery market and it helps take those stains out. If you can not find it, here is what the website says to do: (it was too late for me but for those of you who are interested for future note):
Permanent and Solvent Based Inks
Helpful information for treatment and removal
The successful stain removal of ink stains differs from case to case because of the many types of fabrics, colors, inks and time elapsed before stain removal. We cannot guarantee stain removal since many variables can be involved. Testing first is always recommended as well as following both the stain remover and clothing manufacturer's instructions.
Following these steps should result in partial or complete removal.
1) Treat stains as soon as possible. Fresh stains can be removed more easily than old ones.
2) Check manufacturer's labels as to fabric content and any special instructions.
3) Always test stain removal solution first on a hidden part of the article or on swatch of fabric taken from seam allowance to insure no color loss or damage will occur.
4) Where possible, lay stained article face down on paper towels or clean white cloth and apply stain removal solution to underside of stain so that stain can be removed from the surface instead of pushing it through the fabric. Replace towels or cloth as they absorb stain to prevent stain transfer.
5) If enlisting the aid of a professional laundry or dry cleaner, be sure to indicate what the stain is and the type of fabric.
6) Do not iron stained garments or put in dryer as this may set stain.
Sanford Ink Corporation is a business that I want to buy quality products from. They stand behind all of their different lines and they want your complete satisfaction. The Sharpie Chisel Point Four Pack Set is a very nice set of markers which I much prefer over the other Sharpie Sets that I have seen out there. I like the way that they handle and feel and so far the ink has yet to run out on me. I believe it is an essential for any Office Addict or anyone that needs to make posters or presentations fancier. The Sharpie Chisel Point Four Pack Marker Set is the one for me and all I need.
