Durability:
Pros:Develops finger, hand muscles coordination. Develops motor skills. Very sturdy, fun and colorful.
Cons:Baby can whack head or face with it. Spit up gets between cracks of keyboard.
The Bottom Line: Tiny version of piano with lights, music and rattle. Easy handle for baby to grasp and entertains for short periods of time.
Note: The colors are different on my granddaughter's rattle than the colors shown in the picture above. It's the same rattle, just different colors.
I baby sit my granddaughter and my daughter recently bought the Sassy Classical Keys Piano and brought them over for baby Savannah to play with when on her mat in the floor or when I'm playing with her in my lap.
The rattle's age range is from birth to 12 months but is suited mostly for babies 6 months and older. Savannah is nearly 5 months old and has figured out when she shakes and bangs the rattle she gets lights and music. She has whacked herself pretty hard from time to time which infuriates her but doesn't seem to slow her down any.
The rattle is around 3 3/4" x 5" x 1 1/4" and plays (according to product details) selections from Beethoven and Mozart. I recognize the tunes but have no idea what the titles are. This is the type of rattle that no matter where you touch it, or hit/shake it, it's going to make music, the keys will light up and the red, yellow and blue beads in the clear cylinder will shake, rattle and roll. It's designed to catch your baby's attention and help develop motor skills and, also, help develop finger and hand muscles coordination.
The color of Savannah's rattle is a bright red with the piano keys in colors of white, purple and blue. The contoured white and black handle is easy for grasping and naturally goes straight into Savannah's mouth. There are 2 large orange beads on the handle which an older child would notice more so than Savannah does. She prefers the music and lights. The speaker is located below the beads and isn't too loud but can get irritating after a few minutes - no more so than some of her other rattles, though.
I've noticed there seems to be no place for batteries so I'm assuming the lights and music will eventually die from the inside battery leaving the toy to be just be something that rattles from the beads in the oblong cylinder.
Sassy Classical Keys Piano is a cute rattle and is one of the heavier rattles on the market. The quality of the plastic is very good so I'm sure it'll last way beyond the battery's demise. I just wish drool and spit up was easier to clean from the cracks.
When Savannah sees it, Savannah Smiles, and if she's happy, I'm happy.
