It must be imprinted in a baby’s genes before birth that all babies and toddlers like to play with car keys. My 16-month old daughter Jordan is no exception. Ever since Jordan was 4-months old she would smile as soon as she saw car keys in her view. To this day, Jordan loves throwing car keys on the floor or banging them on the table, to hear the sounds they make. If you walk into our apartment and Jordan sees car keys in your hand, you better be ready to give them up.

Three months ago when shopping at Target I spotted the Sassy Drive and Drool Keys and knowing how much Jordan loves keys I just had to get them. I've been wanting to buy Jordan her own set of keys for a while, but didn’t want those plain looking plastic ones most babies have. The Sassy Drive and Drool Keys are colorful and caught my eye, so I knew they would catch Jordan’s attention and she would have a blast with her very own first set of keys. Stay off the roads everyone, my baby has a set of keys in hand and there’s no telling what damage she can do.

There are 3 keys attached to a durable, plastic bright blue key ring. On top of the ring is a red rubber ball with white dots. Sticking out of the ball are 10 or so soft black and white fabric pieces. The 3 keys are individually incased in a durable, clear plastic, making the keys chunkier so when babies put them in their mouth they don’t choke on them. The plastic around the keys have raised bumps making for more texture and easier for babies to grasp a hold of. Each key is approximately 3 inches wide and 5 inches high.

The first key is yellow, with purple and orange diagonal stripes. There is an outline of blue around the orange and purple stripes to make the colors stand out more. There is added textured by the 5 raised bumps on both sides on the clear plastic. The yellow key is rectangular shaped.

The second key is green, with white dots on a red background. An outline of yellow surrounds the red and white. There are 6 tiny raised dots on both sides adding more texture. The green key is a wavy shape.

The third key is orange, with purple and black horizontal stripes. An outline of green surrounds the purple and black. There are 5 large raised dots to add texture. The orange key is oval shaped.

I like that the Sassy Drive and Drool Keys provide many different textures to stimulate babies. They can feel the difference between smooth, bumpy and rough textures. The keys also provide some educational value. Babies and toddlers can learn shapes, texture and colors. They can also learn to count by counting the number of keys, and the stripes or dots on the keys.

Jordan has loved her Sassy Drive and Drool Keys from day one. The minute I took them out of the package and handed them to her she grabbed them and started banging them on the table. Recently she had one of her molars come in and chewed on the keys and fabric pieces a lot to soothe her sore gums. Jordan also loves to tickle people with the fabric pieces. She even loves to have people tickle her with the fabric and bursts out laughing every time. I can’t go anywhere without bringing her keys. They've kept her occupied on car rides, when at the doctor’s office waiting, at restaurants, when visiting family and at home.

The Sassy Drive and Drool Keys are lightweight enough for even babies young as two months to hold. The keys are easy to clean with a damp cloth. They’re very durable and can withstand anything Jordan does to them, and she does do a lot to them. They’ve withstood being thrown across the room, banged on the table and floors, dropped out of her stroller and stepped on.

I recommend the Sassy Drive and Drool Keys to babies 2 months and up. If you have a baby in the family or one at home itching for their first set of keys these are the ones to get. The Sassy Drive and Drool Keys are durable, colorful, and educational and provide plenty of stimulation and entertainment value. This is one toy that has seen the light of day since day one and not the bottom of Jordan’s toy box and probably will for many months to come. Go get a set of keys for your bundle of joy, you won’t be disappointed, at least until they turn 16 and want real keys.
