As of today this is Allys favorite toy. Shes just learned this past week or two that not only can she pick up toys on her own but she can also put them in her mouth, or at least attempt to. I bought the Sassy Hourglass Rattle a few weeks ago and back then would move it all around while she studied it intently. The bright colors really caught her attention and she look all over wherever Id move it. I would also tip it slowly so she could watch the small beads go back and forth in the hourglass. I left it on her Evenflo ExerSaucer with her other toys a few days ago and she managed to pick it up on her own. Get both hands on it and try desperately to get it in her mouth.
Its as much fun to watch as Im sure it is for her to try because the way she holds the handles with both hands its nearly impossible for her to get any part of it in her mouth. The Sassy Hourglass Rattle is about 6 inches long with black, white, and bright colors. The hour glass is shaped so that the beads when tipped, run slowly down into the other part making a rushing, like rain drops sort of noise. There are links on one of the handles that can be moved up and down and all have different textures for teething. On the top of one end is a purple squeak button. At this point it is just way too hard for her to squeak it on her own so I do it for her.
Its made of a durable soft plastic and has a rubber like feel to the handles for babies who can actually figure out how to turn it so they can chew on it. Im pretty choosy when it comes to paying $3 to $5 for these small toys that soon will no longer be enough to keep her attention. Im really glad this is one I decided to go ahead and buy.
It can go in the dishwasher on the top rack but some water does get inside so it needs to be left out to dry first before giving back to baby. Its light weight. Ally is almost 4 months but has no trouble picking it up.
I got this at Toys R' Us. I'm sure it's sold anywhere baby toys are sold though.
