Around the holidays, our family enjoys gathering at parties and playing games. This year we tried a new one for us, Scattergories. The object of the game is to come up with words beginning with the featured letter to fit in with a pre-named list. We all enjoy twisting the English language to fit our needs, so, needless to say, we liked this game a lot. The only problem we had, was keeping everyone adhering to the rules. Example: Name something sticky that starts with the letter "O". That should be easy enough, but no, not for our family, how do you rule on the word "oil"? Not really sticky, or is it? "If its been sitting in an old engine for 12 years it is!" was a comment we heard. There was a lot of voting on whether to allow answers or not. There were also a lot of obscene answers, which made the game even more fun. This game is great for kids, because it encourages creativity, and helps them practice their spelling! Its great for families, because it gives them a reason to discuss things (or argue, whichever you prefer.) I would recommend it!
