It took me a good 2-3 months to read this book since I am kept busy a lot. This novel is a wonderful book of courage, defiance of absolute power, and self-sacrifice that is quite possibly one of the greatest survivor stories of the Holocaust. I had already seen the movie in 1993 in the theater. The movie is great, so it was somewhat easier for me to follow since I already knew the general plot. To someone new to it, it might become overwhelming since there are so many characters and lots of long German names and titles to keep up with. Nevertheless, it was a great read and I would highly recommend it.
