| remnjava's Full Review: Schultzr African Violet Plus Liquid Plant Food |
I am a beautiful, pink, African violet, although I've never seen the shores of Africa. My household found me in a 4" pot at the local hardware store. I probably had about 20 leafs with 4 flowers and thought I was quite content among my African Violet brothers and sisters.
Carol brought me home and gave me room to spread and reach my full potential, about doubling in size. My leaves now span about 2 hands wide, and I have about 7 spikes of 8 flowers and buds per spike. Pretty colorful, I am! That isnt unusual. Most of my plant brothers and sisters have just as much color as I do. My household took me out of my pot and put a wet piece of pantyhose in my pot and put the wet root ball back again. She then put the wick through a hole cut in the top of a cottage cheese container and put water AND Schultz African Violet Plus into the container. I can now water myself and Carol refills my reservoir when Im dry. I sit in a sunny window with East and a bit of Southern exposure.
The Schultz directions say to put 7 drops (1/8 teaspoon) per quart of water every time she waters. It says she should water from the top or bottom and avoid getting my beautiful leaves wet. For feeding 1-2 times per month, she can use 14 drops or ¼ teaspoon per quart. One full squeeze of the eyedropper, which is enclosed, dispenses about 14 drops. This is for African Violets and other blooming plants.
The chemical breakdown is:
8% nitrogen
14% phosphate
9% soluble potash
My bottle is about 2 wide, 1 deep and 3-4 tall. Carol conveniently keeps me in the medicine cabinet, since she gets my water at the bathroom sink. Im glad I have Carol for a gardener. I wish everybody did! Photos upon request.
Carol purchased this at the local Ace Hardware store for about $3.99. She's had it about 2-3 years and 90% of the bottle is still left.
