Pizza is one of my favorite foods. Of all the Schwan's pizzas, this Schwan's Special Recipe Sausage & Pepperoni Pizza is the one I like best.


Description

This pizza is described as being topped with Italian sausage, tangy pepperoni and a blend of 100% real mozzarella and cheddar cheeses. It has a 10 1/2" diameter and is 17.8 ounces. This pizza serves four people and is cooked in the oven. There are no microwave instructions. The pizza comes wrapped in clear plastic and is in a cardboard box.

Schwan assigns numbers to their products. This sausage and pepperoni pizza is number 615.


My Experiences

This pizza is meant to be cooked frozen … from freezer to oven. The oven is preheated with the baking sheet inside (425-degrees F.). Bake it for 16 to 17 minutes for a crisp crust (This is the way I cook it). Or, for an extra crispy crust, place the pizza directly on the oven rack and cook for 16 to 17 minutes. I place the pizza on a round stainless steel pizza pan. This works well for me since I can slice the pizza while it is still on the pan.

I love the flavors of this pizza. The Italian sausage pieces are plump round chunks that have a bit of spice without being too spicy. The pepperoni has a nice flavor, also a bit spicy. I notice the bite of the pepperoni more than the sausage. The pizza is loaded with plenty of sausage. There are usually six or seven slices of pepperoni.

The mix of cheeses and tomato sauce with the sausage and pepperoni is delicious. The pizza has a thin crust that is a bit crunchy along the outside edges.

The suggested serving size is four. We find this pizza amply feeds three people. However, feeding four people usually requires a side salad or other food, especially if serving four or more adults. Two slices of this pizza make a satisfying lunch for me.
