Pros: a great beginner's bike for the money descent parts selection

Cons: dont expect to win a race on it, and if you do blame yourself.

The Bottom Line: If your on a tight budget, or are looking to join the great sport of mountain biking, then the schwinn mesa is a good choice.

This was my stepdads most recent introduction into the mountain bike world, so i had the opportunity to test it out. Overall, i was impressed with the quality of the parts it comes with, dropping the big names like shimano in key places such as the derailleurs and even the bottom bracket. IRC XC tires are nothing to laugh at either, i have raced on a set of mythos for almost a season and i still love them. The upright posture and slack geometry make this much more of a comfort bike than a race ready, go get 'em hardtail, but that is the demographic it is designed for, and i think it meets those demands quite well.
