I am a big Scooby-Doo fan. When I saw the game Scooby-Doo Get That Dog Game on the clearance shelf at Target, I snatched it up. Hey, my children always can use a new game- right?
The object of the game is to be the person with the most points at the end of the game.
The game comes with 48 cards and a Scooby Doo figurine. The cards are made of colorful cardboard. One side of each card is decorated with either Scooby Doo, Thelma, Daphne, Shaggy, Fred, The Mystery Machine, or Monsters. These cards are what make up the “traditional” memory game. With the Get That Dog Game there are some added twists. There are three special cards that help make this game not only different but also more fun.
These special cards include a Take Scooby Card. This card entitles the person to take the Scooby Doo figure from the table or whoever has it. There are four Monster Cards. If these cards are matched, the person loses one of the pairs they already have. Then there are Wild Cards. The Wild Cards have a picture of a dog bone on them and can be paired with any other card to make a pair.
To start play you place all 48 cards face down in six rows of eight cards each. The first player turns two cards over. If they get a match, they keep the two cards and take another turn. If the cards do not match, both must be turned back over. When there are no remaining matching cards, the game is over and the points are tallied. Each card counts as one point. The player that has the Scooby Doo figure, earns an additional four points.
The Scooby Doo Get that Dog Game is recommended for children three to six. It requires two players to play. It encourages memory skills, matching, counting and taking turns.
The game is similar to Memory but with a few differences. These differences are what make this an interesting game.
If you have a child (or if you are an adult) that likes Scooby Doo I would recommend the game Scooby Doo Get That Dog. Scooby Doo Where Are You? I remember seeing him under one of these cards.
