| lildev's Full Review: Scooby-Doo Get That Dog Game Board Game |
I bought this game to play with the two oldest children I watch while the others are napping. All of the children as well as my daughter love Scooby. I figured this would be a nice change for the kids. I was right the kids love this game.
What I love is that there is no reading required to play this game. This means that the almost three year old that I watch can easily play this as well. All that you require is a good memory (which makes me a horrible player).:) This game has an extra twist to it that regular memory games do not have though. I will explain that more in just a little bit.
Contents: 48 game cards and one Scooby Doo figure
To play the game:
1.) Mix all the cards and place them, face down in 6 rows of 8 cards.
2.) The youngest player starts by turning over any two cards and show them to the rest of the players. If the two cards match, that person places them next to him/her. That player also gets to take one extra turn (even if they get a match on their second turn). The player to the left now selects a pair and so on.If the two cards do not match, put them back where they were, face down, and the player to the left now takes his/her turn.
There are special types of cards in the deck.
The first type is Ten take Scooby cards. When you get a pair of these you get to take the Scooby doo figure from the table or from the player who has it. The take Scooby card is a picture of Scooby with a monster hand over the top of it.
There are Four Monster cards. When you get a pair of these, you loose one of the pairs you have. Both pairs of cards get returned to the box. The monster cards have a picture of a ghost clown, zombie, and frankenstein on them.
The last set of cards are Two wild cards. Any other card you pick with this (including a monster card or a take Scooby card) becomes an instant pair. The two wild cards have a dog bone on them.
The remaining Thirty Two cards are different pictures of Scooby, the gang, and the mystery machine. All of the children that are old enough to play this game love it. They see who can get Scooby first and keep him.
The game ends when there are no more matches to be made. The players (or adult helpers) count up all of the cards they have. The player who has the Scooby Doo figure at the end of the game gets an extra four points to his/her score. The player with the most points wins.
This game is easy enough that he 2 1/2 year old can play it with my help. This is a game that actually keeps the kids attention. They love the different pictures of Scooby. These game pieces are around an inch tall and an inch long. They are made of cardboard. On the opposite side of the pictures is Scooby Doo's name.
I would definitely recommend this game to any child that loves Scooby Doo. This is a game that even I enjoy playing along with the children. It is cheap entertainment at about $5 for the game.
