Scooby Snacks Crunchy Dog Snacks for Medium to Large Dogs

Written: Apr 07 '04
Pros:Bigger Chunks to chew on, Fun Shapes and colors, Different Flavors as well
Cons:Animal fat, by products
The Bottom Line: Casey really liked the Scooby Snacks Crunchy Dog Snacks for Medium to Large Dogs. It was hit around here.

The other day when I bought Scooby Snacks for Small to Medium Dogs, Casey, my dog, just loved them. At that point I couldn't tell if he was considered a little to medium dog or a medium to large dog. So I played it safe and bought the little to medium snacks. Well they were a hit and also small enough for Casey to chew on them.

Is there a difference?~

However I was curious to see the difference so I went out and bought the Medium to Large snacks. Well I will say that there is a definite difference in the two types. The medium to large dogs are much larger than the little to medium pieces. I was shocked. I thought there would be a small difference but it was quite a bit larger.

Packaging~

The Scooby Snacks for Medium to Large dogs come in a box like cereal boxes. You open them up and you can see the big pieces and shapes. The color of the box is orange rather than its' counterpart which is green. If you look at the front of the box for actual size the picture of Scooby holding the treats up is practically the same size. The net wt of the box is 24 oz.

What Shapes and Colors?~

In beef flavor you have Scooby Doo's face as the treat. Shaggy is considered to be the Cheese Flavor. With Chicken Flavor is Scooby Doo's Dog Tag. Lastly the Bacon Flavored treat is the Mystery Machine.

How Does Casey Like Them?

Well Casey being the picky one in our family was able to handle the Medium to Large Crunchy Snacks. It took him a little longer to eat them but he was able to with no problems. I know that he likes both boxes of treats because when I move the box and he hears the snacks rustling inside, his ears perk up immediately. So on my part I got two boxes of treats that are full for just under four dollars. I will probably give the larger box to my mom's dogs. They love treats too.

Overall Thoughts and Impressions~

Casey really enjoyed these treats. If you can get over some of the ingredients like "Animal Fat" or "Meat By-Products" you can feed them as a snack to your dog. They are not meant to be your dog's sole diet. It is difficult to find natural dog treats that Casey will actually eat. I know there are some out there but usually after buying them they just sit on the shelf or go to my mom's house because Casey won't eat them.

Putting the Ingredients aside, I think the Scooby Snacks were a great marketing idea by Del Monte Foods and Snausages, a division of Del Monte. They are fun shapes and dogs really seem to like them. I have spoken to other friends that say how much their dogs love Scooby Snacks.

Overall I think it is a nice treat to reward your dog with once a day. It seems to be enough with 2-3 pieces. Casey will be enjoying them until we seek out and find more treats for him. It is never a dull house with treats around here for both pets. I have a cat too. Casey sure did like the Scooby Snacks so I give it a paw up from him.

Until next time,
