It's an unpleasant job, but someone's got to do it.
Although my apartment is rather small, I have two litter boxes set up for my cat - one on the first floor and one on the second. Both of these boxes are (unavoidably) in high-traffic areas, so I am pretty keen on keeping the amount of scattered litter on the floor to a minimum. (There are few things as unpleasant as going to the bathroom during the night and having to brush the kitty litter off the bottom of your feet before getting back into bed.)
I picked up a few boxes of Scoop Away's No-Track litter at the grocery store, and started adding it to the boxes the next time I scooped them. My cat immediately investigated, sniffed around, and did her business. She approved.
Right away, I noticed that not as much litter was being tracked around the apartment. Litter sticks to the bottom of a cat's paws when he/she exits the litter box, and gets dropped later. Scoop Away's No-Track litter has larger grains than the usual type, which makes it more difficult to stick to the cat's paws.
This isn't to say that I didn't find litter tracked around. I did. But most of it is confined to the area directly around the litter box, making clean up much easier. (I suppose they could have called the product "Less-Track," but the marketing department would have vetoed it.) Most of the litter is dropped a few inches away from the box... A considerable improvement.
I was worried that the litter wouldn't clump as well as the other types of litter, since the grains are larger. Well, either my cat has sticky pee or they've changed the formula for the litter, because I haven't had any problems with the clumping. In fact, I think this brand clumps better than the litter I was using before!
One area where the litter could be improved is odor control. I admit that I'm not the most on-the-ball litter scooper in the world. Sometimes I'll let the litter box go for a few days before cleaning it out. A few days are all I can handle, because by that time the smell is just awful. (I suppose that's a blessing in disguise - if the odor control was any better I might not scoop as often!)
The cat likes the litter, and my feet are clean. Life is good.
