Scotts Pledge
Scotts fertilizers deliver a gradual and even feeding of all essential nutrients and micronutrients, a fast and long-lasting green, and a formula that's safe for the environment.
Product Specifications
-Kills dandelions and other broadleaf weeds.
-Scotts smaller particles stick to weeds better and kill them completely -- root and all
-Builds a thick, green lawn from the roots up
-Won't burn your lawn...Guaranteed!
Directions
Make sure grass is wet from dew or sprinkler before application. This helps the particles adhere to weeds to produce best results.
Set Spreader: See the back of the bag to determine the appropriate setting for your spreader. For best results, use a Scotts spreader.
Fill Spreader: Pour product into the spreader over bare ground or a hard surface. Be sure to clean up any spilled product.
Apply Product: Apply fertilizer carefully, avoiding hard surfaces like driveways and streets. Allow grass to dry before re-entering lawn.
Clean-up: Sweep product off driveways, sidewalks and streets. Return any unused product to the original container.
NOTE: Do NOT apply by hand. Do not apply if rain is forecast within 24 hours.
Step 2
Scotts Turf Builder With PLUS 2 Weed Control can be applied in June. This lawn fertilizer fills the need for additional lawn weed control, as the herbicide component fights everything from ground ivy to purslane to white clover.
Apply to grass when daytime temperatures are between 60°F-90°F anytime weeds are present and growing.
Where to Find it
I purchased Scotts Turf Builder With PLUS 2 Weed Control at my local hardware store (Home Depo), but it is found at Wal-Mart, Ace-Hardware, Lowes, Menards, and local nurseries.
Where to use
Can be applied to most lawns (see "Where Not To Use").
Where NOT to use
Do not use on St. Augustinegrass, floratam, dichondra, lippia, carpetgrass or bentgrass. Do not apply to flowers, shrubs, fruit or vegetable plants.

Cautions
-Do not water or mow lawn for at least 24 hours after application (Granules must remain on weed leaves for 24 hours to be effective.)
-Do not apply if rain is expected within 24 hours (or the weed control will wash off)
-Do not apply if day temperatures are regularly below 60° or above 90°.
-For maximum product effectiveness, keep people and animals off lawn after treatment.
-Apply only to grass, do not allow granules or dust to drift onto flowers, shrubs, fruit or vegetables.
-Grass should not touch the bottom of a drop spreader. Tall grass should be mowed a day or two before application.
-Delay application on newly seeded, sodded or sprigged areas until new grass has been mowed four times.
-Do not seed, sod or plant grass sprigs until at least one month after using this product.
-On bahia or centipedegrass lawns, do not apply until after the second mowing of the year, but NOT before mid-March.
-In fall, DO NOT treat centipedegrass after Oct. 1, or bahiagrass after Nov. 1.
-Apply on a calm day as wind will carry the fertilizer.
-This product applies 1.5 pounds of 2,4-D per acre per application. Do not apply more than twice per year.
Active Ingredients:
1.21% 2,4-D 0.61% MCPP Fertilizer Analysis: 28-3-3
Fertilizer Analysis Example
Scotts Turf Builder with Weed Control Analysis: 28-3-3
All fertilizers have three numbers on the label which indicate the fertilizer analysis, or "percentage by weight" of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, in that order. Therefore, a 100 pound bag of fertilizer labeled 20-10-5 would contain 20% nitrogen (20 pounds), 10% available phosphates (10 pounds), and 5% soluble potassium (5 pounds).
Nitrogen is a primary nutrient that really makes the plants grow. When you put fertilizer on your lawn, most of the green-up and growth comes from the nitrogen.
Phosphorus is a primary nutrient that encourages rooting, blooming and fruit production in plants.
Potassium helps plants resist disease and aids in winter hardiness.
Dropper or Spreader?
My experience has always led me to believe that the Spreader works well as it covers a vaster area. The Dropper can easily leave Zebra Stripes as missing an area will skip a row/line, which in turn leave grass unfertilized and looking less green than the fertilized grass. (Thus Zebra Stripes Shades of green that differ from one another) The Kicker or Spreader, gives you a radius which allows the grass to be fertilized much quicker and with less emphasis on accuracy youre allowed to do larger passes to get the job done.
Several applications
I waited till I had used this product several times to write this review and my experience is the fertilizer works well and does what it claims. Although it is not a perfect product when it comes to weed control as it does not fair well against larger healthier weeds. Scotts Turf Builder With PLUS 2 Weed Control reduced the number of weeds in my yard along with thicken up and providing a greener healthier lawn. Along with not taking out the stronger larger weeds, application is noticeable better when the grass is damp or wet as the granules stick to the broadleaf weeds. Each application brought my lawns health to a higher standard & increased the surface area that my sod/seed covered (filling in bear spots, thickening up areas, and greening up brown or sickly spots)
Final Thought
Scotts Turf Builder With PLUS 2 Weed Control is an excellent product, part of the Scotts family. Currently it is the only name I trust because the claims that are made return with near perfect results. I am very satisfied to finally find some yard & garden care products that produce results similar to the claims. The product is as easy to use and will remain a staple of my lawn care environment.
