I needed a new letter holder when we moved to our new house so I headed to amazon.com and found the Scroll Wall Mount Letter Holder.  I liked the looks of it and the dimensions that were posted.  Unfortunately, I did not read the reviews on the letter holder so never noticed what other consumers had - the letter holder's dimensions are not true to their advertisement.


The product dimensions are described as being 11.4" W x 2.4" D x 14.6" L.  Not so.  Mine measures 10" W x <2" D x 14" L.


When my letter holder arrived 2 days after I'd ordered it, I opened the box and was rather disappointed in its measurements.  I liked the looks, it had 3 slots for different items and how sturdy it was so decided to keep it.  I knew it wouldn't hold magazines or larger pieces of mail but it would hold bills, stamps, post-it-notes, cards and smaller items.


There were 5 key hooks on the bottom and these were something I really needed.  In my old house, I had a specific place for my keys but couldn't find one here at my new one so was having trouble keeping up with them.  We decided to hang it beside the back door which is where we usually exit and enter the house so everything would be easy to grab on the go.


The satin nickel letter holder came with 4 matching (black) screws and it didn't take long to hang it up and it was instantly ready to use.  It was a little awkward getting the screws in but once in, there was no wiggle and everything was tight and sturdy.


I have an office where I keep office supplies but with this letter holder I don't have my husband bugging me about stamps, envelopes or notepads.  Everything is in sight for him to see (if he looks).


You really can't put a lot of items in the 3 slots, especially larger items.  The depth is less than 2 inches and if I put something large in it, or try to, it won't fit.  I have to turn it up on its side which obscures what's in the other slots and you have to move the item to find what you're looking for.  My husband really fusses about this.  We don't overstuff the slots and try to keep things to a minimum.  In fact, it's more organized than my desk.


It's honestly not what I was expecting, it has too many cons but since I paid around $22 for it, I plan on using it until I find something I like better.  The best positive is it holds my keys so I'm not forever looking for them, it has a nice scroll design and it's already hung and I'm not about to take it down.  You can't argue with logic like that.


Would I recommend it to my friends?  Yes and no.  If they liked the design and don't expect precise measurments, it'll do.  Otherwise, if you need a larger holder, look for something else.
