| cusnwalter's Full Review: Sea Lodge On La Jolla Shores |
I visited La Jolla Beach March 12th thru the 14th 2004. We stayed at the Sea Lodge Hotel.
The hotel is located right on the beach front of La Jolla Beach in San Diego, CA.
Dont be scared of the name, at first I was. The sea Lodge, sounds like some place my grandmother would go, Yes and No, Ill explain..
I visited La Jolla Beach March 12th thru the 14th 2004. We stayed at the Sea Lodge Hotel.
The hotel is located right on the beach front of La Jolla Beach in San Diego, CA.
The ambience of the hotel was nice overall. The outside had a Mexican southwestern flare. There are water fountains, hanging plants, flowers everywhere you look.
The hotel has a large pool and a hot tub, Cushioned lounge chairs surround the pool. There is also a gate that goes out to the beach. Since the Hotel is so close to the beach you can see it from practically where ever you wonder in the hotel, even the pool.
They have one restaurant in the hotel, it serves all meals. The view from the restaurant is amazing!
I ate breakfast the two mornings I was there. They had some interested breakfast options, Mexican eggs made with tortillas, avocados and turkey sausage all mixed together, Belgian waffles, regular eggs, and of course the traditional breakfast buffet. Everything was expensive typical for a hotel restaurant.
We did have one problem at mealtime, we were a large party of 8 and they could not get our food right nor bring it out on time. We waited 45 mins for our breakfast one morning! Besides that the dinning experience was good.
The hotel has three floors of rooms that are accessed by the outside. The top floor has huge ceilings with the boards exposed. Very pretty but someone in my party stayed in one of these rooms and nails were exposed on the boards everywhere (very dangerous). Every room has a Big TV chest with two drawers, mini fridge, little table and chairs, and a balcony. The balconies have two lounge chairs on them. Not all the rooms face the ocean so be extra sure you reserve on that does.
The rooms over all were clean. The décor in the rooms were less desirable, they all had the same pictures hanging on the walls of beach scenes. The furniture you could tell was pretty old and worn out. The Bathroom was a normal size. I think the biggest plus to the room was the closet. It was mirrored and very large, it also contained your own ironing board and iron. The amenities in the bathroom were good, shampoo, body gel, conditioner, hand lotion, mouthwash.
The concierge service was very nice, several times they were able to answer my questions and offer me advice on where to go. There directions were always very clear.
Im not sure why but around the time I was visiting there was an enormous about of older people in there 70s staying at the hotel. I do not know if this is always the case but it did seem like a hotel that would attract that type of age group. Its just a very laid back place, in a warm climate.
Overall I would recommend a stay to people who are looking for a nice relaxing clean hotel in a nice area.
