dreamyone's Full Review: Seagate FreeAgent Go 320 GB USB 2.0 Hard Drive
We bought this Seagate while on a trip. We chose it because it didn't require an external power source and because it was on sale. It was a great decision. We had taken an unexpectedly huge amount of pictures and videos which we had downloaded to our laptop, and it was slowing the laptop down. Plus, we had filled another external hard drive on the trip. (It was a great trip - we'll review the cameras and camera accessories separately).
I really like this external hard drive. It downloads very quickly. In addition, it draws power from the computer, so doesn't need to be plugged into an electrical source - the only connection is through a very short USB cable, making it very easy to transport. It's about the size of a small index card, and only slightly thicker. When we got home, we discovered that it's small enough to fit inside the tiny sleeve of our tiny netbook along with the netbook. It doesn't make any noise when it's working. It lights up to let you know it's on, but it doesn't have distracting flashing lights like some of the other external hard drives. It probably only weighs a couple of ounces so it's very convenient to take with you. (I also carry the tiny flash drives in my purse, but the neat thing about this is that it holds so much and is relatively small for an external hard drive).
We've been really happy with the external hard drive. (I also like knowing our pictures are on at least two sources for safety sake - they mean a lot to me).
