Pros: Looks nice
Cons: Does not provide a restful night's sleep because it causes severe back pain.
I purchased this mattress hoping it would live up to the promise of providing a good night's sleep. No more tossing and turning, improved circulation, and a sense of feeling rested. I am a new mother, and for months had not been getting any sleep because my baby was a very restless sleeper and didn't start sleeping through the night until he was about 7 months old. I bought the mattress in December 2006, so I've had it approximately 3 months. Now my baby sleeps through the night, and it is me who keeps waking up because I am in pain. For example, I woke up at 5am this morning, and decided to write this review because I couldn't take another minute in my bed.
At first the mattress seemed great, if very firm and hard. I also purchased the matching memory foam pillows, which I must say I noticed a problem with right away. The memory foam pillow does allow your head to sink in, but it is extremely thick and does leave about 2 hard inches of pillow between your head and the mattress, leaving your neck at a very awkward angle. Combine that with a mattress that allows your body to sink in is a disaster. Your alignment is totally off (your head is at a strange angle, and your body sags into the bed at the opposite angle) I had to find an old, flat pillow that I was about to throw out - it is the only thing I can use with the bed.
I am also a sufferer of migraines, and the salesperson swore that this mattress would help with the problem. I usually experience 5-10 migraines a year, but after I purchased this mattress, I must say I've had at least 10 to 15 migraines in 2 months. I had to visit my doctor, and I am now on strong migraine medicine. Right around New Year's, I suffered from 1 to 2 migraines a day for a week and a half. This has never happened to me before. And since then, I have had another attack at least once a week. I have also experienced severe back problems and pain. As I am writing this, my upper back is locked. Each time I lie down on the bed, I can't get comfortable, and wake up after about 30 minutes to change position. Mornings are awful, because no matter how much sleep I've had, my back is sore, joints ache, and if I accidentally turned onto my stomach, I am in terrible pain (mattress where your body sinks in + stomach sleeping= arched back and lots of pain) Some mornings my husband has to give me a back rub just to ease the stiffness so that I can get out of bed.
I know I sound like an old person with all my complaints of aches and pain, but I'm only 26! I am not overweight, I do not have any major joint or muscle problems, but I am in agony because of this bed. The last time I had such a bad sleep on a mattress was on a pull-out sofa, with a thin crappy mattress, a bar across my back, and stiff springs - and even then I felt better in the morning.
My husband and I are going to see if we can exchange our mattress for another model, preferably one that is NOT memory foam.
