Hungry at Mohegan Sun and want a little of everything?
The Seasons Buffet might be just what you are looking for.
Located in the Casino of the Earth at the Mohegan Sun resort, the Seasons Buffet was the first buffet that opened up at Mohegan Sun. Its also the larger of the two buffets that are available (theres another buffet in the Casino of the Sky). Seasons offers breakfast, lunch and dinner and is pretty much open all day as breakfast transition to lunch, which then goes to dinner.
When can I eat?
Breakfast at the Seasons Buffet begins at 7:30 in the morning and runs until 11am. At that point, the service transitions over to lunch. Lunch goes until about 4pm, at which time the food begins transitioning over to dinner. During the week dinner is available until 10pm and on Friday and Saturday the service goes until midnight.
Will I have to wait?
The line often does get pretty large for the Seasons Buffet and during the busiest times it can take quite a while to get in. Dinner on Friday and Saturday nights seem to be the busiest. My suggestion would be to eat off hours have lunch later in the day or have dinner later than normal. Quite often you can beat the rush of people who all have to eat at noontime or at 5pm.
For breakfast the lines always seem to be more manageable. We havent had to wait too long on any day weve been there to have it.
Costs?
For lunch and dinner the price is just under $16 per person ($8.50 for kids) and for breakfast its $10 for adults and $6 for kids. That includes all the food in the buffet and non-alcoholic beverages.
What can I eat?
Pretty much a little of everything.
The breakfast service is probably the most limited but even that has plenty of choices like scrambled eggs, pancakes, waffles, made-to-order omelets along with plenty of other breakfast favorites like freshly carved ham.
Breakfast is actually my favorite time to visit the Seasons Buffet. I like the quality of the food that they serve and there are enough choices that I can have a pretty well rounded breakfast (and who isnt hungry after a night of gambling!). I also like the fact that I can get an omelet cooked to order the way that I like it.
For lunch and dinner the service tends to be more varied with various stations serving different kinds of food. Theres a carving station that usually has ham and turkey for lunch and at dinnertime it has prime rib or roast beef. Theres a pizza station where you can get different kinds of pizza, a huge salad bar, a pasta station, a Chinese station and a Mexican station. They also offer some selections from the various Mohegan restaurants to give you a taste of what you could get there.
If thats not enough, youve got a dessert station too where you can make your own sundaes. Not feeling like ice cream? There are plenty of cakes, pies and cookies to choose from too.
While my real favorite is breakfast at the Seasons Buffet, I have to admit that Ive never really been disappointed with lunch or dinner. There have always been enough choices that I dont leave feeling like I didnt have anything to choose from and overall the quality in all of the dishes is quite good for a buffet. The food is always hot, everything is clearly labeled so you know what you are getting and the staff is very attentive to making sure everything is always available. I usually get a little of everything. One thing I do like about all the choices is that I tend to try things I might not normally try - so I can expand my food range a bit.
I love the salad bar too. I almost always start with a big salad at lunch or dinner since there are just so many choices and options. The desserts are also nice I usually go for the brownies and a slice of pie.
Food Quality
For a buffet, Seasons has always impressed me with their overall food quality. They have staff members at all of the stations making sure that the food is both fresh and constantly refilled so that people dont have to wait. Ive very rarely come across something thats cold or obviously been out too long on the buffet.
Thats especially true with breakfast a lot of breakfast food is kind of hard to keep frsh in a buffet setting and the folks at Seasons do a real good job with it.
Atmosphere and Ambiance
Its a buffet, there really isnt much.
The seating is pretty tight and overall the goal of the restaurant is to get as many people in as they can at a time. The place does tend to get loud when its really crowded.
Services
I havent had a bad service experience at Seasons over the years that Ive been going. As soon as you sit down someone almost always comes over to get your drink orders and when you go up for seconds (or thirds or more!), your dirty plate is almost always removed by the time you come back. I cant say its outstanding service, but the wait staff does what they are supposed to do in an attentive manner.
Final Thoughts
No one is going to be wowed by the Seasons Buffet. It is a buffet after all. However it is a good buffet with nice service, a large selection and good food quality.
Ive always been happy with my meals at the Seasons Buffet, especially at breakfast time, but I wouldnt have a problem having a meal there at any time.
If you are at Mohegan Sun, hungry and looking for a place that will give you plenty of variety and good food at a decent price, then check out the Seasons Buffet.
