Seattle's Best: Try the Worst of the Rainy City's French Roast

Cons:Nasty, Lack of Strength, Inferior Quality, Makes you thirsty
The Bottom Line: This is one horrible java, and Seattle's Best is far from that in the French Roast category.
Seattle's Best Coffee has been around for a long time. As the city of grunge, coffee, and rain, I wonder how this is the case. At least with the French Roast, which is deplorable in every aspect. A good, true to its word "French Roast" is dark, smoky, and with little acid in its body. Yet that is not what you are going to get with this brand. Instead, you will get a weak boost of caffeine. Seriously, is there any in this? I expect strong, wake up, knock you out of your bed java whenever I drink a French Roast. This I can drink before going to sleep.

Besides having a horrible lack of punch, this does not have any distinctive notes, besides acid. I had heartburn from drinking this, and the aftertaste lingered with me for a long time. There might just be a reason this was on clearance. Brewing this was just like any other blend, but yet I was astounded to see that its not as dark, as the other ones that I've loved over the years. Yet I was hopeful that "appearance isn't everything," and it did smell quite good. That was pure deception in every regard, because as soon as I sipped it, I knew this was going to end up in the garbage heap.
The lack of strength and its notes, make this a coffee you want to avoid. I don't find any balance at all, and I think they cut serious corners, in the production of this brew. Its as if they used stale beans, and ones that weren't grown in the best of conditions. That's my opinion at least, take it with a grain of salt, or sugar in this case. The lack of definition also, was a shock, and I'd say that even regular house blends have more character than this one. That's a shame, because for a company with such a high reputation, even stores, this is not something I'd want to be associated with.
Do not purchase this coffee. Don't even drink it. This is truly "pond scum," and it will make your morning or day a bitter one. I was profoundly thirsty after drinking this too, which also did not make me happy. Yes I was able to get a bag for $5.00, but the store brands product is better than this. I hate to say this, but even some of the freeze dried ones are too. Alas, Seattle's Best needs to get back to "the drawing board," and make a French Roast that is worthy of such a blend. There are so many good ones, but I'd recommend steering clear of this one, and going with Starbucks instead.
