I have wild curly hair that is course textured and hard to control. I have tried many many different types of gels, mousses and leave in conditioners and have had varying degrees of success in getting them to control my wild curls.
After a recent haircut I bought a tube of Sebastian Potion 9. It was a special deal which included one of their shampoos and the 5.1 oz tube of Potion 9 for 13.95. The tube states that it is the only wearable hair treatment that contains nine ingredients to help repair damaged hair. You apply a small amount to towel dried hair and work in from ends to roots.
The Potion 9 is a orange colored cream that has a mild scent. It is not flowery or fruity smelling but neither is it medicinal. The scent is not the best but it is not strong. It doesn't take allot of the cream to work through your hair.
I usually let my hair air dry so that the curls don't get all pulled out but even so I have allot of frizz to control and Potion 9 does it beautifully. It doesn't have the sticky feel that gel seems to leave in my hair. It simply makes my hair softer and easier to control while leaving the curl intact.
The label lists many ingredients. Here are a few of the more unique ones listed.
Jojoba
Safflower oil
Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein
Hydrolyzed Silk
Macadamia Nut seed oil
Borage Seed oil
Evening Primrose
Dog Rose Hips oil
Allspice Extract
Lemongrass Extract
Potion 9 is a really unique product compared to others I have tried. It is probably not for someone whose hair is on the oily side or someone who needs body. On the other hand for dry flyaway frizzy hair it works like magic. It is a bit expensive but it also goes a long way as a little dab can be worked through even thick heavy hair like mine.
The only thing I believe that would improve this product would be a more pleasing scent. But I will gladly give up the fruity smell of some other products for one that really benefits my hair. If you struggle with wild dry hair and want something to soften it up and make it manageable give Potion 9 a try. I think you will be pleased with how your hair responds.
