My 12 month old son got this as a toy for Chanukah. I think I am going to have to buy one more of them because my two year old fights with my younger son when he plays with it.
The Toy
The toy has a white front with and a blue back. On the front are six buttons, when pushed make animal noises. On the left side there is a red tractor that when moved up or down makes a clicking noise. On the right side is a blue barn yard door that when moved up or down starts the song "Farmer In The Dell" playing. On the bottom is a yellow chick that has hatched from an orange egg. On the top is a trusty handle, perfect for a little hand to carry the toy around.
The Buttons
Each of the six buttons are a different color: red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple. On each of the different colored button is a baby animal: chicks, cow, cat, pig, lamb and horse. When you push the button it plays the sound that the animal makes. I was impressed, for the most part, with how realistic the sounds are.
Educational Factor
Aside from teaching basic hand eye motor control to a young toddler, this toy has other educational value. You can work with an older toddler on things such as colors. "Push the red button". You can also teach the recognition of animals. "Which one is the cow?" Another thing is teaching the animal sounds. "Which animal goes oink oink"?
My 12 Month Old
My 12 month old likes to push the buttons and hear the animals. He also likes to move the slide, on the right side, to get it to play the clip from "The Farmer In The Dell". However, he also gets quite a bit of enjoyment out of banging the toy on something. Which brings me to the durability factor.
Durability
This toy has great durability. It has been thrown, smacked onto a table, chewed on, and pushed across the tile floor. There is no visible wear and tear to the toy. The colors on the buttons are still very bright, the pictures of the animals are still perfect and not rubbed off at all. I have not yet had to change the batteries, that the toy came with.
Ease of Cleaning
Speaking of chewing on a toy, this toy is very easy to clean. Since it is electronic you cannot put it in water, but I just take one of those lysol wet wipes and wipe the toy down. Very simple to keep the toy clean.
My Only Complaint
My only complaint is that, without a way to control the volume, the toy is somewhat loud. Not deafening loud, but annoying loud, which is why I can only take this toy in short increments.
Overall
Overall this is a toy that can really be fun and educational for a large age span. I would recommend this ten dollar toy to anyone.
