| pburton16's Full Review: Select Comfort Mattress Sleep Number 5000 |
After exhaustive research and a number of recommendations, I bit the bullet and plunked down the cash for this bed.
Best money I have ever spent.
I have never been able to sleep well. I do not have the remarkable ability to sleep on cue or in any place other than my bed. Not only do I sleep light, but I go through extensive periods of insomnia. I also, at 34, routinely woke up with awful pain in both my shoulders from pressure, neck pain, and frequently, lower back pain (as a result of a sports injury).
In short, I had not had a decent night's rest in over five years.
I have been sleeping on the Sleep Number 5000 for over a month now and I am absolutely satisfied. The first night was a revelation and every night since has been terrific. No more pain. I wake up feeling good... I don't know what "waking up refreshed" is supposed to mean... waking up without pain is all that matters to me.
Bottom line: I love this bed. best money I have ever spent.
Additionally, Select Comfort Customer Service is EXCEPTIONAL. Period.
The Good
- Easy set-up - not sure why some folks had difficulty with the set up, I found it quite simple. Had the mattress put together in about 15 minutes. I have a platform bed, so I did not purchase the base.
- I sleep through the night and wake up without pain for the first time in 5 years. What more needs to be said?
- Customer service is phenomenal. Select Comfort is a company that understands how important your opinion is.
The Not-So-Good for Your Wallet
The 5000 mattress is expensive at $1600.00. No question. But, if your compare that cost to a top-of-the-line coil mattress with plush pillow top ($800-$1200 ) and CONSIDER that the Select Comfort bed WILL NOT pad out after 3-4 years... Why not spend the money for a product that will last a long long time.
Case in Point: My mother owns a first-generation Select Comfort Air Bed - After almost 8 years of use, she has NEVER had a problem with the bed and still gets a great night of sleep.
