Cons: Foam barrier in the middle, inconsistent air pressure, more expensive version of coleman air mattress
The Bottom Line: I would recommend for solo sleepers. The dual air chambers can be uncomfortable. But it does sleep better than our old pillow top.

My aunt owns a sleep number bed and loves it! I was expecting to sleep on clouds. I laid on the bed at the store and was impressed.
So, when my husband and I decided to upgrade our queen pillow top, we decided to buy a sleep number. We had it shipped via UPS to our house and my husband assembled it. It came with two air mattresses and 5 foam barriers: 4 for each side and 1 that goes down the middle.
The air compressor is rather loud. There is no way to quietly inflate your half of the bed. You will wake up your partner.
The comfort of each side the bed depends on whether or not the person next to you is lying in bed. I prefer a soft mattress, my husband likes it firm. When he gets out of bed, my butt hits the boxspring. (There is a base that you can get from select comfort. Because we were on a budget, we kept our boxspring and it works just fine.) Then when he gets back in bed, it's like we're playing crack the egg on the trampoline (a bit exaggerated, but you get the idea).
Even with both of us in bed, we can still feel the vertical foam barrier in the middle. It sits lower than my husband's air mattress does and gravity usually ends up pulling him toward the middle of the bed. I have to inflate my half of the bed more than I would like just to keep him level.
Because of our budget, we didn't spring for the digital number remote. We got a generic remote with an up / down button. I have no idea what our numbers are. It's difficult to get the same consistency from one day to another.
Since my husband is deployed, I get the entire bed to myself! Sleeping solo on a two chamber mattress isn't comfortable, at all. The middle barrier discourages me from taking up both sides of the bed, and the different consistencies of the two mattresses don't help make for a good night's sleep, either.
