| cjschucker's Full Review: Select Comfort Mattress Sleep Number 5000 |
I'm ashamed to say that it took me 7 years to check my bed, but I did and I as many other people have Black Mold. Lots of it. Interestingly enough I started with asthma in the winter time about 4 yrs ago or so. Never had allergies before that. It started with winter allergies, moved to spring allergies and this year I have fall allergies, too. A few weeks ago I decided to take a peek at the bed because I had not opened it and I found all that black mold. I pulled the foam pad off (the mold was on the foam pad, the side that sits against the air chambers - make sure you look there!) and cloroxed the heck out of it but decided to research online to see if anyone else had an issue. Sure enough I found quite a few posts talking of the same issue and how select comfort will send you new materials for the bed if you call them. I just talked to them and they were wonderful. Very helpful and nice. The new bedding is coming in 3-5 days, all for free. I'm hoping to see a drop in allergies and asthma, too!
On a side note, the sleep number bed is great if you cannot fit a king size bed into your bedroom through the door/hallway. We had this issue and this is why we bought the sleep number bed to begin with - it comes in boxes so it's great for small doorways, old houses.
Make sure to check your own bed!!!
