Pros: Excellent choice for two who need different firmness levels.
Cons: None noticed after five years.
The Bottom Line: I recommend the Sleep Number bed for couples who need different firmness levels in a mattress. We found none of the problems mentioned by other reviewers.

| gkarea579's Full Review: Select Comfort Mattress Sleep Number 5000 |
I just recommended the Select Comfort Sleep Number bed (we have the Queen 5000) to a friend and was surprised to hear she had read bad reviews. In our mid-40s we both had difficulty sleeping because my husband had lower back trouble and I had hip pain. We decided to try the bed because of their return policy. That was five years ago and we both have slept well and pain-free ever since. My husband finds a level of 85-90 works best for him and I set my side at 40-45. Winter or summer, with a heated matress pad on or not, the bed holds pressure to our selected settings. We recently moved and because of the mention of mold we took the bed apart, unzipped it and examined it. We found no sign of any problem and not even any signs of wear. Because of its light weight it was very easy to handle. A plug is provided to keep the mattress inflated during a move and when we set up the bed in the new location, we just selected our usual settings and were back in business. When we travel my husband still has back pain on a too-soft mattress or I have hip pain on a too-firm mattress. At home the Sleep Number bed solves this problem for us. If we ever need to replace this product, we would buy another.
