We LOVE this bed ... worth every cent!

Pros: Adjustability: husband is a 65, and I'm a 30 ... so we're both happy.
Cons: hard center in the king's dual chamber bed
The Bottom Line: We are very happy with our Select Comfort 5000 set; waited a couple of years and read lots of reviews ... but we wouldn't have a different bed now.

I had been researching the sleep number beds for several years, but was having a hard time justifying the add'l cost after reading review after review ... and it always seemed like they were 50/50. So I kept putting it off, not wanting to waste a lot of money if we weren't happy with it. However, we finally bit the bullet this summer and got a sleep number 5000 and went from our original queen sized bed to a king. Well, I can tell you that my husband tells me at least a couple of times a week how much he LOVES our bed. He has back, knee and shoulder problems from past football injuries, and he has slept the best he's slept in years. I am very pleased with it, too; however, I have to be honest and tell you that I don't care for the middle portion of our bed ... it's hard, since it's a dual-chamber bed ... and when he wants to cuddle at night, we can't meet in the middle because of this ... so we have to huddle on his side or mine ... which is okay, since the bed is so huge anyway. But it's something to consider. Otherwise, we probably wouldn't have anything BUT a sleep number bed in the future. And I see now they have that memory foam on top, so maybe that would help some ... I don't know. Since this is something that you use for approximately 1/3 of every day, I would say it's worth it to spend a little more.
