We bought a SelectComfort bed about 20 years ago and have used it ever since with great results.  We never had any problems with it whatsoever.  In addition to being very comfortable, one of the best features that the ads don't seem to mention is that with this type of bed it never starts breaking down and wearing out like every other type of bed inevitable does. It feels the same 20 years later as it did when it was new.

We originally bought it to replace a waterbed and it was a model that fit right in our waterbed frame. 

We are now replacing the waterbed frame and decided to get a new SelectComfort mattress (now called SleepNumber).  We just got the basic C2 model which is essentially what our old one was and it's just as comfortable as the old one. 

There is no question that they are expensive but so is every other mattress we looked at.  I expect they would all upset us if we saw the cheap pile of wood and springs they are made of but with them you don't get to see it until it's completely assembled.  I don't think any bed is materially worth what they cost but nevertheless, that's what they cost.

This time we also bought the heating pad which hopefully will correct the only thing I missed when we got rid of our water bed 20 years ago.  We'll see, we haven't used it yet because it's still hot out.
