Two and a half weeks ago I had a king sized, P6- pillowtop, sleep number matress delivered. I bought the matress cover and the down comforter as well. A few days ago, we noticed these little brown furry wormlike bugs between the sheets and the matress and comforter. We looked around and found a lot! I was slightly relieved that it was carpet beetle larvae instead of bed bugs.
A call to the company and through several levels of customer service got me this. I can return the bed because I'm within my 45 day return policy. They do not actually want the bed, just pieces of the air bladders, the hoses and the matress cover. Basically to know I destroyed it. They wouldn't acknowledge they brought the bugs into my house, even though they picked up other people's mattresses in the same truck that same day. I was told there's no chance of cross contamination because their installers are trained to look for bugs. I was told that once they receive the bed pieces they will process my return, which could take 21 days before they mail it.
So now I have no bed, $3,200 and am about to pay somewhere between $200-500 on an exterminator and I have to haul this infested bed to a dump in my vehicle and at my cost.
I never had any insect problems like this before. I know this came from the bed. Sleep Number stated since I couldn't prove it, they couldn't offer me anything except for the alreadt pre-existing 45 day return policy.
I did some research....There are a lot of horror stories like mine. Just type into a search engine, Sleep Number gave me bugs.
