Cons: Price, California King mattress is actually 71"x81", not 72"x84"
The Bottom Line: I recommend this bed for anybody who has a spouse, has body pain in the morning, can't sleep at night or works hard for a living.

This is great. I did a lot of research on these beds, and actually almost bought one 6 months ago. I had a hard time spending over $3k for an air bed, especially after reading all the pros and cons of it. So I picked up a Serta pillow top, (Costa Mesa). It was a great be for $1800, until the pillow top broke down after 2 months. I was able to exchange it, and my wife and I went to a firm innerspring. It took us about 2 weeks to realize that was not a good idea either. We were lucky in that Sears had to do a return, the make us purchase another one. We decided after the return part of the deal was complete, that we did not want another bed from them. So, we took another look at the Select Comfort. I read all the fine print, tested it out again, then made the move to buy one.
It came in less than a week, and was easy to set up. Yes, the foam smelled at first, but I let it air out over night before putting it together and the smell was gone in a day.
We did not opt for the $400 foundation, as I am handy (and 6'4") and wanted a higher box foundation. For less than $100, I was able to build one out of 2x4's and trimmed out in oak plywood with a nice cherry stain.
The sleep number is actually easy to find, and after a hard day of work, you can make it softer (or firmer) and change back at will. Our bodies change daily, and so should your bed if needed as any quality mattress is over $2500 and should last 10 years.
I sleep an average of 2 hours more a night, and my wife and I do not wake up sore or tired in the morning. We actually sleep right through the night, without waking up at all. I thought that was impossible. I was wrong. My only regret was not doing it sooner.
You are reading this because you are considering one of these beds. Ask yourself 2 questions:
1.) Is your body going to need the same firmness next year, 3 years from now, or even 10 years from now?
2.) If you sleep for 8 hours a day, (33% of the day) shouldn't you invest in something worthwhile?
