| rayepeck's Full Review: Select Comfort Mattress Sleep Number 7000 |
My wife and I had a 10 year old mattress that was getting the characteristic "dents" in it where my wife and I slept. We had seen the info-mercials for Sleep Number beds and decided to give one a try. We found a Select Comfort store in a local mall and ended up buying a split king with the adjustable base option (which we love, by the way).
In a nutshell, we were excited to get our bed, try it out and see if it lived up to the hype... unfortunately it didn't... in a big way. It's really nothing more than a glorified camping mattress with a pillow top over it. I could have tolerated that, if it was comfortable, but every night I sleep on this bed I wake about about 5am (my alarm is set for 7:30!) with terrible back pain, and can't fall back to sleep no matter how I position myself. I've tried half a dozen "sleep number" and no luck, the pain always wakes me up. After a week of trying to "Get used to it" as the Select Comfort customer service people suggested, I'm still not able to sleep past 5am. As it is now, I'm sleeping in our guest room, that is, until the Select Comfort people arrive to pick up their bed.
As for my wife, she doesn't mind the bed, and it isn't giving her back pain, but she says that she likes a pillow top much better.
Thank God for the 30 day return policy! Back it goes. If it works for you, great, but it didn't work for us.
