My wife and I bought a sleep number 7000 on March 8th, 2008 and it was delivered and set up by sleep number personnel on March 22nd. From day one my side of the bed has leaked air. After calling customer service, who told me to put the caps in to see if it was the air mattress leaking, I spent the next 45 minutes or so unzipping and fishing around inside the "mattress" for the caps, which were supposed to be near the start of the zipper.
After my second call to customer service I was told that my caps would arrive in the mail in 3-5 business days. Needless to say, each day I must reset the "mattress" to the correct sleep number.
So far, during this whole time, I keep thinking that on a 4000.00 "mattress", I shouldn't have to check the "air" every time I go to bed, when, quite frankly, this damn thing should be checking MY air!
Now I will say that since we have gotten the bed, my wife and I have been sleeping more soundly and wake up pretty refreshed in the morning. We were using a mattress that was about 10 years old, and it had gotten used quite regularly, so maybe any new mattress would've felt pretty good.
We are calling sleep number in the morning, April 1st, and no, it will not be an april fools day call. We are relieving ourselves of the over-priced(4000.00!!!) aero-bed and gladly going back to a traditional mattress. As a matter of fact, we looked at beds this evening, March 31st, and are going with the s&f or the beautyrest.
Sleep number, had I been more inquisitive while in the store and unzipped one or two, I might've run away in horror. Thankfully, I am within my "30 day" sleep guarantee, although this episode will still cost me money.
