Pros: Low cost, good quality sound
Cons: Bad durability, no carrying case
The Bottom Line: I'd recommend these only if you can't pay for a better version. While the sound quality is good, what good does it do if it breaks?

| lugh's Full Review: Sennheiser HDC 451 Consumer Headphones |
I got the Sennheiser HDC 451 headphones because I travel quite a bit via airplane and was looking for a pair of headphones that would cancel out some of the noise from the plane. The Bose headphones, while second-to-none, were a bit expensive at around $300. These Sennheisers were only $80 and were competitive with the Bose headphones. The price, as they say, was right.
I used these headphones with my Panasonic Panasonic DVD-LS90 while traveling and found that they were really quite effective in keeping the sound of the plane out and the movie sound in.
As you can imagine, I was excited to have saved the $220, but it wasn't meant to be. After three trips to and from conferences in Las Vegas, the headphones broke. Any time I turn the noise-cancelling features on, it makes an incredibly loud noise in my ears, similar to paper being ripped a gale-force wind blowing across your eardrums. Needless to say, I was quite disappointed.
The warranty doesn't cover them, so I'm out $80. My next purchase will be the Bose headphones. They seem to be more durable and even come with a padded leather carrying case (maybe that's why these broke, they come with no case). It's like my father always said, you get what you pay for. These were great headphones until they died on me!
