| leepert's Full Review: Serendipity 3 |
After eating a mediocre Peruvian meal in NYC last week, some friends suggested that we spice up our night with dessert at Serendipity 3. What a great suggestion! The evening was saved.
The menu was sort of reminiscent of a Mollie Katzen cookbook...lovingly hand-lettered with humorous drawings in the margins. It easily set the stages for the desserts we were about to enjoy.
When faced with such a tremendous selection, I usually end up ordering the most basic dish. In this case, it was a three scoop hot fudge sundae. Made with creamy vanilla ice cream and homemade whipped cream, it was the best I've had in ages. Two of my friends ordered a chocoholics delight with fudgy cake, ice cream and hot fudge sauce. One sundae was easily enough for two.
I am anxiously looking forward to my next NYC visit so we can eat dinner there. We're told the meatloaf (believe it or not) is the best dish on the menu.
As an aside, we arrived at 10:30 just in time to encounter the post-theatre crowd and our wait was about 20 minutes.
