The Bottom Line: Sentry Hot Spot medication heals your dogs hot spots and can be used to treat other skin ailments as well.
Pets can develop health problems quickly and some of them seem to come out of nowhere. One problem I have experienced in the past with my dogs that appeared quickly and started to grow is hot spots and one product that helps to eliminate these painful sores is Sentry Hot Spot Skin Medication, a product formulated for adult dogs or puppies.

Pet Medication Facts:
Sentry Hot Spot Skin Medication is a thick, blue colored liquid with a scent that combines medicinal properties with herbs and detergent. This product is specially made to heal hot spots and is sold in a plastic squeeze bottle with an open applicator tip.
To prepare your dog for treatment, the hair close to the hot spot should be trimmed back. The sore should then be washed with mild soap and water, rinsed, and then patted dry. The medication can then be applied directly to the sore by lifting the applicator tip and squeezing out a small amount of medication, covering the sore. It can be used on dogs at any age, but it should not be used on puppies less than six weeks old.
Sentry Hot Spot Skin Medication is manufactured using the active ingredient Benzalkonium Chloride.
Sentry Hot Spot Skin Medication is an inexpensive and effective way to treat hot spots on your dog. Hot spots are open sores that develop on a dog's skin. The sores are reddish in color and they usually itch badly, driving dogs crazy with the constant urge to scratch. And since they are painful, the itching and scratching is often accompanied by mild yelps as a dog tries to cope with the irritation.
My smallest dog has longer hair and thus he is most prone to hot spots. In the past, I have taken him to the veterinarian when hot spots occurred, but lately I have resorted to do- it- yourself remedies when hot spots and other problems occur. The wide range of pet care products available in pet- oriented superstores and online makes it easy to find treatment for many common ailments. In fact, it was through internet research that I discovered Sentry Hot Spot Skin Medication. A quick trip to a local Petco and I found a bottle for only about six dollars. I hurried home to see if it would solve my dog's problem.
Several manufacturers offer hot spot treatments and Sentry Hot Spot Skin Medication is one of a few that I have used with good results. This product is easy to use because it already has an applicator tip, eliminating the need for cotton balls, cotton swabs, etc. The liquid is squeezed directly onto the sore, allowing it to go to work immediately, relieving the itch and aiding the healing process. The special formula kills the bacteria that cause hot spots, returning your dog's skin to its good health.
My experience with Sentry Hot Spot Skin Medication has been very positive and it has successfully eliminated the instance of hot spots on my dog's skin. One thing to note is that you need to check your dog's skin periodically throughout the day when you use this product. It can easily wear off if your dog continues to scratch, rolls around on his back (where hot spots often appear), or otherwise disturbs the thick blue liquid. Even if it doesn't wear off, you need to check for results and apply more medication as needed. After a couple of days, the hot spots should diminish in size. If they don't the problem may be more serious and require the intervention of a veterinarian.
Sentry Hot Spot Skin Medication is great for hot spot treatment, but the nice fact is that it is useful for other skin problems, such as cuts, scrapes, and abrasions. These problems do not necessarily require the bacteria- fighting ingredients found in Sentry Hot Spot Skin Medication, but these added ingredients certainly don't hurt and they can help fight infection while they help to heal the sore.
Overall, Sentry Hot Spot Skin Medication is a product that earns my stamp of approval. It usually takes several applications to completely heal your dog's skin, but the product works and it can save a bundle when compared to the cost of having a veterinarian treat the hot spots professionally.
