I have to admit that even at my age, I have a thing for Elmo. He’s just so cute that I cannot resist him. When I ran across this Sesame Street Elmo Flashlight at Target, marked down to a very low price, I had to have it. Yep, this gift was for myself. This little guy is too cute!

Elmo is his typical red color, with his orange button nose and big white eyes. He has a small handle on the back that your young child can hold on to carry him around. The handle is yellow and has an orange button that you squeeze to activate the flashlight component. The whole flashlight is made of a plastic material and weighs in at a little over a pound. Product dimensions are: 5.0"L x 5.3"W x 8.0"H.

When you hold the handle, you also have the option of squeezing the orange button towards you to activate the flashlight. When you do this, Elmo’s head comes up and his mouth opens, revealing the light inside. But of course you cannot have Elmo without having that infectious little giggle of his. When you activate the light, you also activate the sound and Elmo does his little giggle. Elmo will only giggle once because he comes equipped with an automatic shut-off, unless you release the orange button and squeeze it again.

This flashlight comes equipped with 2 “C” batteries that you might have to replace soon after purchasing because you know that these toys get “tested” a lot as they sit on the shelves waiting to be purchased. There is a small hatch on the bottom of Elmo’s feet that opens with a screwdriver to replace the batteries.

I purchased this Elmo flashlight for $1.76, marked down from Target’s price of $6.99 due to a manufacture recall. Apparently the light bulb within the flashlight is too bright so the product is being recalled. It didn’t bother me because I wasn’t giving this as a gift to someone but keeping it for myself. And I didn’t think the light was bright at all, but I guess it would seem so for little kids. The price was a great one being that the Little Tikes website carries this product for $12.99.

The little flashlight is too cute and my nephew loved it when he came to visit for Christmas. Of course, he likes anything that makes noise so I knew he would. This flashlight (or one like it) is a great idea for those that live in Hurricane areas. It’s a neat idea to have on hand so that your young child can have his/her very own flashlight in case the power goes out, and it could be a fun thing because it’s Elmo. Little Tikes also manufactures a Sesame Street Cookie Monster Flashlight

I definitely recommend this flashlight if you can find one. I’m hoping that Little Tikes fixes the light bulb problem and re-releases the product so I can buy them for my nieces and nephews.
