| mom2daniel's Full Review: Sesame Street - Elmo's Talking Driver |
Do you remember how you used to love to pretend to drive as a child? My dad would always let me "drive" his car. This toy is fun for babies in the sense that they can pretend they're driving too! My son received this toy as a gift from his father 2 Christmases ago, and he still plays with it! Elmo has always been his favorite character, so we thought this would be the perfect toy for him!
What is this toy?
It's made of plastic (what isn't?) and has a bright yellow steering wheel on it and a few buttons that baby can push on the right hand side of the toy. It has a flat bottom so it sits easily on the floor. It runs on batteries, and is quite durable. The batteries are already installed, and they've lasted all this time without any signs of wearing down.
What does the toy do?
The Elmo Talking Driver is just that: a simulated steering wheel with turn signals, an ignition, and other buttons that talk when baby pushes them. The horn in the middle of the steering wheel is Elmo, and it says "Beep Beep! Coming Through!" when baby pushes it. The steering wheel turns super easily. The turn signal is green, and is located on the left hand side of the steering wheel. It "dings" when pushed up or pulled down, allowing a red flashing arrow light to appear. The buttons on the right consist of: Ernie, who says "Driving is Fun!"; Cookie Monster, who says "Me Drive Car!"; Big Bird, who says "Buckle up!" and a radio button that plays a couple of seconds of a rocking tune that baby can dance to. The ignition is blue plastic, and can be turned to hear a start-up sound. This one took a bit for my son to get the hang of, but he was only 9 months old at the time.
Mom2Daniel's Recommendation
This toy gets a huge thumbs-up from both me and Daniel. He loves it still, and I love it because it's so durable. Daniel has thrown it, dropped it, walked on it countless times and it is no worse for wear! If your little one seems interested in learning to drive, Elmo's Talking Driver would be the perfect toy for him (or her)!
