| BlackCat2's Full Review: Sesame Street - Elmo's Talking Driver |
The title is basically what I hear as the parent to the owner of this toy. It was given to us as a gift by my husband's boss so I have no idea as to the price paid.
This toy has no on or off switch. All your child has to do to get it going is to press a button or pull a lever. My son has loved it from the first moment he pressed a button.
When any button is pressed or lever is pulled the directional lights at the top flash. One is red and points to the left the other is green and points to the right. They both flash simultaneously.
I like the most that they "key" really turns, the gear shift can be pulled and the turn signal bar can really be pulled down.
When you press the "radio" button a short tune plays and the directional lights flash to the music.
Below the "radio" are three buttons each with a different Sesame Street character on them. The red button has Big Bird. The yellow button has Cookie Monster and the blue button has Ernie.
Press each of the buttons and each character has a different message:
Big Bird says "Buckle Up".
Cookie Monster says "Me Drive Car".
Ernie says "Driving is Fun".
The turn signal makes a "ding ding" sound which is repeated twice. The gear shift has the sound of a car revving up. The "key" sounds pretty close to a car starting up.
For a toy that is not VTech I am pretty impressed. My son sure loves it but the longer we have it the less I love it. <chuckle>
Seriously though, the volume on this toy is very very loud and there is no discernible way to turn it down. Plus the repetition which while appealing to my son does little more than give me a headache.
Do I recommend this toy for other children? Yes. It is a fun toy as evidenced by how often my son chooses to play with it. It also helps when mommy is busy making dinner or cleaning to keep a certain little person occupied for quite a while.
This toy takes three or four double A batteries which are concealed under a cover that has to be screwed in. I can't remember exactly how many as dad changed the batteries. There were some included but they were very worn out from other people playing it in the store. I have mentioned before in other reviews how much I like this as I know he will not gain access to the batteries.
Should you get this as a gift or buy it yourself make sure you get a big bottle of pain reliever to go with it. <smile> If you are not sure which kind to get you can find reviews for many in the Health and Beauty section of Epinions. Enjoy!!
