| cbobbb's Full Review: Sesame Street - Elmo's Talking Driver |
My husband and I purchased Elmo's Talking Driver last weekend after a long search for such a toy. Our son is ten months old and when the car is parked at home he loves to sit on Daddy's lap in the front seat and pretend to drive! We needed an alternative!
Description of Elmo's Talking Driver
This is a free standing durable plastic toy with many features to delight babies and toddlers:
Steering Wheel and Horn
The most important part of the toy is the bright yellow steering wheel which turns from side to side. In the middle of the steering wheel is the horn which is a blue button with a raised picture of Elmo on it. When the horn is pressed Elmo says "Beep Beep - Coming Through".
Indicator/Blinker Bar
This is positioned on the steering wheel column as in real cars. It can be pushed up or down and makes the clicking noise of the indicator/blinker. At the same time a red left arrow and a green right arrow light up above the yellow steering wheel.
Ignition Key
This is blue in color and positioned on the lower right side of the steering wheel. When turned the key makes the sound of a car engine starting up.
Gear Stick
This is also to the right of the steering wheel and is bright red in color - when pushed in either direction it makes the sound of an engine revving.
Music Bar
This is at the top of the "dashboard" and when pressed plays loud music. My son seems to hit this bar all the time - I am learning to live with it!!!!!
The cast of characters
Also on the dashboard are three character buttons. When pressed the characters say the following:
Big Bird - "Buckle Up"
Cookie Monster - "Me Drive Car"
Bert - "Driving is Fun"
Alongside the character buttons is the green speaker.
This is a great toy - my son loves it. He plays with it everywhere and its size makes it very portable. At $20.00 the price is reasonable - after one week of extensive usage the batteries are still at maximum volume.
My only complaint would be the maximum volume in question - it cannot be controlled and seems to be really loud! However, it's a small price to pay for my little boy's enjoyment - Good job Sesame Street!
