Looking for an interactive toy that your child will truly enjoy? Have you learned the fine art of ignoring loud repetitive noise interference? Is a big smile and sounds of laughter worth more than the destruction of a favorite toy?
If you answered each of my above questions with a YES then I have advice on the toy for your little pride and joy.
Where to begin.
My 15 month old son received a Elmo’s Talking Driver toy for his first birthday. In the beginning it seemed like a nice little gift. It made cute little sounds like ”driving is fun”, “beeb beeb” and “me drive car”. It also has buttons for your child to push that play musical tunes as well as sounds of a car starting up.
At first my little guy would just hit an occasional button or two. I even found myself joining in the fun with him and pushed a few buttons. But eventually, this interaction between me, my son and Elmo’s Talking Driver turned my little baby boy into a push button manic.
Okay…I admit the apple doesn’t fall to far from the tree. I guess you could say that I kind of encouraged my little boy to play along with me as I rotated the buttons on Elmo’s Talking Driver clockwise then counter-clockwise. I guess you can also say its fun sharing laughs with my child every time he hits “me drive car” over and over and over again. However, after a while Elmo’s Talking Driver is starting to drive this mom a little insane.
Elmo’s Talking Driver has turned into my son’s favorite toy. He seems to love the noise and the lights. He even mimics some of the sounds this toy makes. He smiles and laughs every time the rest of our family bangs on the buttons with him.
This toy has passed my son’s durability test. I can truthfully say that this thing is kid proof. It has been bounced off walls, thrown down stairs and bang so many times during the last 3 months. Yet it has not broken or even cracked. All the pieces on Elmo's Talking Driver still remain in tact while the noise factor keeps going and going (smile).
Would I recommend this as a gift? Yes, but please be sure to include a set of earplugs for the parents.
