Seventh Generation 2T-3T Training Pants - Safe & Natural, No More Rashes!

Written: Mar 31, 2012
Rated a Very Helpful Review by the Epinions community
Pros:Nice training pants overall, good price, safe/natural
Cons:Availability, not necessarily as "cute" as others
The Bottom Line: These are a great safe alternative to regular training pants.

My 2 year old has extremely sensitive skin.  We have battled with her eczema since she was born, and finally I got it under control by the time she turned 2.  That is, until we tried Pampers Pull-Ups.  We were so excited because we found Pull-Ups with images of Dora on them, and she absolutely loves Dora - therefore, a good incentive for her in potty training.  However, within a day of using the Pampers Pull-Ups, she developed a terrible rash.  It was everywhere - parts where there were seams, right on her bottom where she sits, and everywhere else.  It was definitely the diaper (and not just issues of contact or wetness).  I had used Seventh Generation for my girls as babies, so I was happy to see that they also make training pants.

I first bought these at my local grocery store.  Seventh Generation has a specific product locator on their website, which is how I found them in a hurry.  A pack of 29 costs me $9.99, which is pretty good, and comparable to other brands of training pants.

These training pants come shrink-wrapped in plastic.  They are light brown in color, a light beige.  We have purchased different designs.  The first training pants design we found had print on the front, saying, "1, 2" and then an image of a tree.  On the back, there is a strip reading "Back Back Back.."  The design of these isn't particularly cute, and just red and green print (which almost looks like a Christmas design).  After doing some searching, I was able to find the limited edition Lorax print, which is really cute, with the Lorax on it!

Unlike the other training pants we have tried (Pampers and Earth's Best), there are no 'disappearing designs' when it gets wet.  Although the tan color isn't necessarily "cute", we have used so many diapers and training pants that have bright or loud designs that show through clothes, so I do like the muted colors.

These training pants can be torn off at the sides, but it doesn't have any way to reattach.  (For example, Target brand pullups have a Velcro-like enclosure on the sides).  It would be a nice feature, but not necessary.

These training pants seem pretty soft and comfortable, probably moreso than the Pampers Pull Ups as well as Earth's Best.  They seem thinner as well, but I haven't had any issues with leaks or accidents.  A lot of the other training pants seem thicker or stiffer, and I like that these have a softer feel to them.

Overall, I am so happy to find training pants that are safe, but also gentle on my daughter's skin.  I really like how soft these are in comparison to a lot of other brands as well.
