mfontan's Full Review: Amy Sohn and Sarah Wildman - Sex and the City: Kis...
Once upon a time, on a small island not too far away, there lived four smart, beautiful women who were all very good friends. So begins Amy Sohns intimate look at one of HBOs most popular shows, Sex and the City.
From men to Manolos, foreplay to Fendi, Sex and the City: Kiss and Tell captures much of the heart, humor and yes, fashion sense, so prevalent in the beloved TV series.
Fashion pages dedicated to each female character showcase infamous outfits and interviews with costume designer Patricia Field, the woman responsible for nameplate necklaces, flowers as t-shirt accessories and that little pink tutu gracing Sarah Jessica Parkers tiny waist in the opening credits.
The episode guide, while lasting only through season four, gives pert synopses of each glimpse into Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Mirandas cosmo-swiveling, boyfriend-rotating lives, from Sex and the City to I Heart NY.
Cast bios and one-on-one conversations with the core four-- and the men who love them-- also give this hot pink hardback the insider info fans of the show will readily embrace.
And no Sex and the City companion would be complete without the did/didnt page of the foursomes sexual histories. (Samanthas stretches across two pages and then some.)
With only one season remaining, theres no better time to get reacquainted with the show that introduced such phrases as funky spunk and the f--- buddy. And with the cast and crews seal of approval, theres no better guide than Kiss and Tell. (A)
