| kd7iwp's Full Review: Sharp CD-XP2200 CD Shelf System |
I recently purchased this stereo from spending time at other peoples homes and admiring these shelf systems that sounded as if they had 10" subs. Then I discovered that they spent over $200. So I was let down since I am only a teenager who works for McDonalds. Then I saw in a Best Buy ad that this Sharp system was on sale for $90. I checked it out and could not believe how high quality the sound was!
First off the system feels durable from its weight, in my experience, heavier speakers work better and the speaker weigh 6.6 lbs each which feels good. The quality of these two way speakers is fantastic. I can crank the volume way up and then when I go to the other end of our house they sound crystal clear - with lots of bass. It is as if the stereo is right next to me. It has a few different EQ settings which is nice, but nothing that you can change yourself, they are factory set. The tape deck on it is nice, being all electronic. None of those plastic buttons that break when you press them hard, the entire cassette system is electronic. This also means that you can have the machine automatically record something off the radio at a specific time, like a VCR. However you can only fast forward and rewind on one of the decks, the other tape deck does not.
The remote is very nice and includes a button for pretty much every feature except for the clock. It takes 2 AAA batteries and is quite small, just don't lose it.
The CD sound quality is very nice and you can switch 2 of the CD's while it remains playing the third. The radio works great, only be really careful where you place the AM loop antenna or it will get a loud hum. The only pitfalls of it is that you can not change the balance between the two speakers, the wires going to the speakers are only about 3 feet long, and you can't make the clock stay on all the time. Other than that I would definitely recommend this. It is an amazing system and I am extremely happy with it and I like the bass. That is the main reason why I wanted this system. And with 150 watts of power, and fan inside to keep the amp cool, it's a nice system.
