The Bottom Line: Very disappointed. TV was expected to be a great purchase and resulted in significant frustration. If you are going to purchase this tv, I suggest purchasing extended warranty coverage

This tv worked well for the first year but then all went to hell...of course, after one year warranty expired. We purchased this tv in March of 2006 to upgrade from our old 20 inch tv. Other than a lag in the picture/sound display when turning the channel, it was a nice tv. It had good picture quality, nice screen size, and looked great sitting on our entertainment center. But after owning it for about 18 months, the picture and sound stopped coming on. When we would turn the tv on with the remote or the base of the tv, the green power light would come on but no sound or picture would come on. You would turn it on and off 20 times and it still would not come on. You could come back later and it would turn on just fine. Very very frustrating considering we paid $1700 for it and it lasted a little over a year. Our warranty covered 12 months. Of course we didn't buy the extended warranty because a tv should last you at least a few years right? So we are stuck with a $1700 tv that works sometimes. I'm afraid to know what the repair costs would be for this tv if we took it to a tv repair shop.
Well, I guess we learned our lesson...either don't buy from Sharp or ALWAYS get the extended warranty for pricey purchases and electronics.
