Sharp Aquos TV issues (Reply to this comment)
by nordic4u
I agree with your comments on a law suit.
Sharp puts a hefty price tag on their televisions and the quality should match the price. To date, they DENY known issues, which is NOT BEING HONEST. I have searched several websites and found MANY comments on Sharp Tv problems.
I bought a Sharp Aquos 42 inch a short time ago.
I noticed the sound was not up to par. I jacked the volume way up to Maximum (60) but could barely hear the program. Then after the Tv was on for awhile, there was popping crackling sound and the noise got worse. I heard it was due to an internal overheat issue that damages the sound board (or audio system) I took it in to the shop for repairs and was told the Main Board was replaced. I turned it on again and it was fine...until a few hours later...heated up and sound chirped and crackled AGAIN ! I was advised to buy a surround system and to use only the surround speakers...deactivate the TV speaker volume...so I did that, but the audio cables are hooked up to the TV...so guess what? After a few hours TV heats up and I hear snap crackle pop from the surround speakers !
For pete's sake...the TV cost almost $2,000 and the Sony surround system costs an additional $1,000 (plus extra cables) . Why should customers have to be inconvenienced and frustrated by a defective product?
I agree with you....THERE SHOULD BE A MAJOR RECALL ON SHARP TELEVISIONS.
Replacing the sound board does not work either...because the TV overheats and damages the new sound board...it's ridiculous !
I got the extended warranty...the Agreement reads...after 3 problems with a product, it is considered A LEMON and guarantees replacement.
So far...it's been twice...the 3rd is around the corner ! I will NEVER buy Sharp products again!
