| russrimm's Full Review: Sharp VL-NZ155U Mini DV Camcorder |
I purchased my VL-NZ155U from buydig.com for $289 after a $100 rebate. For this price, you cannot find a better camcorder. Included is both a 16mb SD memory card for snapping pictures, and Mini-DV tape capability for recording videos. Connections supported are both USB (for image transfers) and Firewire (for video transfer). I bought a Firewire card off eBay for another $12 - another great investment. The camcorder has 10x digital zoom, and digital jitter correction. If you aren't taking close-up videos, I found that it's best to leave this off, or you'll get very digital looking blocky video footage. It's pretty nasty.
Two batteries, one regular and one extended life are included, and provide ample battery power for a day at the beach.
One thing I wish this camcorder had is a light. In dark areas, it will automatically try to adjust the contrast and light, but it can only do so if there's some light to work with. Make sure you have plenty of light while you're shooting.
All in all this is a great camcorder for a great price.
